Burnet County seeks original
photographs that showcase tourism venues.
BURNET – In March
of this year Burnet County Commissioners Court approved
using Burnet County Hotel Occupancy Tax funds to support
a “Visit Burnet County” themed photo contest.
“The purpose of the contest is two-fold”,
explains Tourism Director Teri Freitag. “First,
we hope the contest will encourage everyone to go
out with their cameras and explore all the beautiful
and unique sights right here in our own backyard.
Additionally, we hope to archive a wide array of tourism
related photos that can be used in future print and
website ads to promote the area to the rest of the
world. Great visuals are key in successful tourism
advertising.”
The contest begins April
1, 2008 and ends September 30, 2008. Judging and awards
will be presented in October. Official rules may be
obtained at the Burnet County Courthouse, or by going
to www.visitburnetcounty.org.
“We’re excited about including a category
just for kids, and are asking school officials, 4-H
groups, and the Boys and Girls Clubs help us get the
word out.” Freitag adds, “I think some
of the best entries will be from a kid’s perspective,
and if the contest fosters a new hobby or career path,
that’s even better.”
Burnet County is seeking
original photographs that best exemplify our county’s
beauty and spirit for its Visit Burnet County photo
contest. Cash prizes are: 1st place, $250; 2nd place,

that showcases things to see and do in Burnet County.
