Burnet Cultural Arts Festival: October 12-13, 2007, Burnet, Texas

Plan a weekend in the beautiful Texas hill country and attend our first annual Burnet Cultural Arts Festival on October 12 and 13 in Burnet, Texas.  Browse our website, www.bcafburnet.org , and plan your weekend NOW!  Held in conjunction with Fort Croghan Day and a Genealogy Conference, the Festival features presentations by nationally recognized storytellers, writers and poets.

The weekend starts with a Friday night "mix and mingle" reception with the literary guests at beautiful Longhorn Cavern where our keynote speaker Joaquin Jackson will entertain you.  You will have time for visiting with our guest speakers as well as be provided with food, drink and entertainment.  On Saturday afternoon the Festival features John Erickson presenting Hank the Cowdog in Concert, after a full day of readings by our visiting poets, writers and storytellers. The Grand Finale is Saturday evening with a dance, food and drinks at the Burnet Community Center featuring swing music from the 40’s provided by the Flashbacks.  We expect a sell-out crowd so make your reservations as soon as possible!  Weekend Packages are available including lodging and events, and we also have individual event ticket sales   All arrangements can be made by calling 512-756-1800.

Festival participants include authors:  Mike Cox, Bill Crider, John Erickson, James Haley, Joaquin Jackson, Emily McKay, Tweed Scott, and Lisa Wingate; storytellers: Elizabeth Ellis, Donna Ingham, Doc Moore, Bernadette Nason, and Dale Bulla; and poets: Peter Meinke (Florida) and Paulann Petersen (Oregon).

The Burnet Cultural Arts Association (a non-profit organization) is hosting the Festival which is made possible through grants from the City of Burnet Hotel/Motel Tax Fund, the Burnet County Hotel/Motel Tax Fund, and generous contributions from the First State Bank of Burnet, Wells Fargo Bank, Friends of the Herman Brown Free Library, Michael Warner & Associates PC CPA, and the Central Texas Library System, Inc.  Funds generated from the event will go to the Herman Brown Free Library expansion project.
