Kingsland, Texas - An Official Visitor's Guide by Burnet County

Kingsland is a small, peaceful town located along Lake LBJ. Year round activities like golfing and fishing as well as summer activities of swimming and boating make Kingsland the perfect spot for a getaway vacation to escape the bigger cities in Texas. During the Springtime, Kingsland is a favorite spot for Hill Country visitors to see fields of Bluebonnets and other wildflowers.

Even though Lake LBJ gets most of the attention from Kingsland visitors, boaters can travel several miles north on the Colorado river and several miles south of Lake LBJ, all the way to Horseshoe Bay. This allows for plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their favorite activities without the over-crowded feeling that comes from more densely populated lakes.

Below you will find everything you need to make the most of your trip to Kingsland, Texas. For visitors with GPS devices, Kingsland's coordinates are 30.65824; -98.440585

A Brief Look at Kingsland's' History

Kingsland was originally a small town called Kingsville after one of the founders, Martin D. King. At that time, in the 1880’s the town had a cotton gin as well as a small center for trading of goods. Once the Austin and Northwestern Railroad was expanded to Llano through Kingsville, the town saw a growth spurt. In the 1960’s the town saw another growth period as a place for retirees as well as businesses that could thrive off of the tourist industry from the newly built Wirtz Dam and Lake LBJ. By that time, the name had been changed to Kingsland. Today, Kingsland’s population is estimated at somewhere over 4,500.
