Fort Croghan was 3rd of the 1st four forts established by the U.S. government to protect settlers against hostile Indians on the Texas frontier. In 1853 Fort Croghan was home to Company C, 8th infantry, U.S. mounted troop, & later headquarters for the 2nd Calvary Regiment. Historic displays & seasonal live interpretations. . Free admission but donations appreciated.
